Varun Gandhi and Maneka

I appreciate the action taken by the Election Commission against Varun Gandhi for his hate speech. I praise specially the process and quickness for taking the decision on the condemnable speech delivered by Mr. Varun Gandhi. I am fully confident that in the similar way and unbiased way election commission will punish several others against whom complaints have been lodged at different places in the country.

I express pleasure that the BJP spontaneously after the allegation of hate speech against Varun has dissociated itself from Varun and now in view of advice given by the Election Commission, BJP will not give party ticket to Varun. In addition, BJP should make a sincere effort to issue guideline to all its candidates to desist from such speech which creates differences among people of various groups. Rather they should be made aware of all dos and don’ts as soon as he is given ticket. Party must adhere to discipline by all costs. BJP is treated as cadre based party of discipline and different from all other political parties. Hence BJP must maintain its healthy tradition even if it has to bear temporary losses for this holy purpose.

There is no doubt that Varun may fight the election as an Individual candidate. Still Varun must avoid using such language which hurts the sentiments of any individual, caste, group or community. India has a tradition of respecting all religions, castes and communities. For Varun Gandhi, it is the beginning of his career and he should try to build good record from the beginning itself. EC has proved to be an eye opener and should be considered as beacon light for him and he must learn lesson from the incident.

There is a proverb that coming events cast their image before. There is no doubt that Varun will prove to be a very good leader and asset for the country. Public will excuse his first mistake as because he is very immature and innocent. He has attempted to copy leader like Raj Thakre to become a quick Hero but there is every chance he may become a Villain if Thakre like person are followed. As such it is advisable that he copies leader like Advani, Narnendra Modi or Arun Jaitley if his views are close to the ideology of BJP.

I an very much fan of his mother Maneka Gandhi because she is a hardcore believer in Non violence, even comparable to many Jain stalwarts who preached Jain tenets of non vilence and respect to all . It is she who left no stone unturned to stop torture on animals, killings of animals and also even curring of plants and trees. She proved to be a good minister for the department she was assigned during NDA rule. Varun must have nonviolent ideas in his hearts and I am very much sure God will bless him with good award in politics.

Last but not the least, this incident sends a message to Indian judiciary where lacs of cases are pending for decades. Justice delayed means justice denied. If there is a will there is a way to deliver quick justice in the similar way as EC has exhibited in Varun’s case.
